The joyous atmosphere surrounding the impending wedding of a young Nigerian woman, Mirian Chinonso Sunday, has turned into deep mourning after she tragically passed away just two days before her traditional wedding ceremony.
According to reports, the heartbreaking incident occurred on Friday, October 3, 2025, in Umuahia, Abia State, where Mirian was set to celebrate her union with her fiancé, Ugochukwu Princewill, popularly known as Donish Gold. The couple’s traditional wedding was scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 5.
Just a day before her death, on October 2, Ugochukwu had shared their joyful pre-wedding photos on social media, brimming with excitement and love.
“Sunday we party. 5th October. Thank you so much for choosing me, my baby girl… love is a beautiful thing,” he wrote.
Tragically, reports indicate that Mirian was on her way to the market when she suddenly began complaining of chest pains. She was quickly rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, where doctors battled to save her life. It is alleged that she suffered internal bleeding, prompting an emergency surgery. Sadly, all efforts to revive her proved unsuccessful.
The devastating news was confirmed by her fiancé’s close friend, Christian Ojike Agbaeze, who shared a sorrowful tribute on Facebook.
“A day made for celebration has turned to condolences. Blessing, this was not the plan. Uka my man, Donish Gold, take heart. You don’t deserve such cruelty from this world. Nigerian medical system failed you. We were meant to pay her bride price on Friday and celebrate properly on Sunday, but she died that same Friday — the day meant to be her happiest. Saddest month ever. Why God?” he lamented.
Another close friend expressed disbelief and heartbreak over the sudden loss, describing Mirian as “hale, hearty, and full of excitement” ahead of her big day.
“My sister, as we fondly called each other, you left everyone in shock and agony. You were very healthy and excited about your traditional marriage that was supposed to hold tomorrow. I wish this was a prank, but reality keeps making me sad. RIP Mirian Sunday. RIP happy soul. Until we meet again,” she wrote.
The tragedy also left the wedding MC, who had been contracted to host the event, in shock. He shared a screenshot of their recent conversations and paid a moving tribute.
“Still in shock. She contacted me just a few months ago, full of excitement as we planned her big day. I was ready to stand as her MC to celebrate love, laughter, and new beginnings with her. But today, we lost her. From marriage plans to funeral tears in just one night… it’s too heavy. Life truly is fragile,” he wrote.
