Helicopter: Asiedu Nketia Told Samuel Sarpong To Take His Place On The Flight, Kojo Danquah Speaks

The Deputy CEO of the Students Loan Trust Fund, Kojo Danquah, has made a startling disclosure regarding some persons who died in the tragic helicopter crash near Obuasi on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Speaking as a panellist on UTV’s Adehye Nsroma Show on Thursday, August 7, the NDC bigwig disclosed that the National Vice Chairman of the party, Dr. Samuel Abogaye Agyeman, was originally not intended to be part official launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) in Obuasi.

He said the National Chairman of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, was the one who was scheduled to attend the event, but delegated his duties to his Vice Chairman due to unforeseen contingency

He stated that it was Asiedu Nketia himself who made this disclosure to him and others in Koforidua.

“Yesterday when we went to Koforidua, my National Chairman was explaining that he was supposed to have been on the flight, but something had come up, hence the Vice Chairman should stand in his stead. He said he ought to have been on that flight.”

Luck, however, eluded Dr. Samuel and other high-ranking officials on the flight when the Z-9 helicopter crashed at the Sikaman Forest in the Adansi South District in the Ashanti Region.

The unfortunate accident claimed the lives of eight individuals who were attending the official launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) in Obuasi.

Persons aboard the helicopter were the Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister for Environment, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

The other high-ranking government officials were the Deputy National Security Coordinator, Limuna Muniru, and the Former Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East, Samuel Aboagye.

Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, officers from the Ghana Armed Forces, also died in the crash.

At the time of writing the report, the video had racked up over 2,000 likes and 15 comments.

Bawumia mourns the demise of eight persons

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia mourned the passing of all who died in the tragic helicopter crash in Adansi Akrofuom.
