The Ghana Air Force and the Military High Command have demonstrated their commitment to supporting the families of three fallen flight crew members who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The crew members, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, were among eight prominent Ghanaians who lost their lives in the horrific helicopter crash.

Following the state funeral and military burial held on Friday, August 15, 2025, a donation of GH¢315,000 was presented to the bereaved families.

The donation was made possible through the generosity of various well-wishers and companies who rallied behind the Ghana Air Force and the Military High Command to support the families of the fallen crew members.

A presentation ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces in Accra on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, where the families of the three crew members were presented with the donation.

This gesture showcases the strong sense of camaraderie and solidarity within the military community.

During the ceremony, a representative of the Ghana Armed Forces stated that the presentation is a one-off cash donation which will go to the widows, the surviving parents, and the extended families of the helicopter crash victims.

The military helicopter, identified as a Z-9, crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

Aside the three crew members, the other victims of the tragic helicopter crash are Ghana’s Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, the Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Limuna Muniru, former Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Samuel Sarpong, and former NDC Parliamentary candidate for Obuasi Est, Samuel Aboagye.
