The eight individuals who died in the August 6 helicopter crash have all been laid to rest at the Military Cemetery in Accra.
However, a comment by the relatives of one of the victims has stirred reactions online.

This comes after a middle-aged man, who identified himself as the brother of Peter Anala, spoke in an interview with Joy News on August 15 after the burial, where he shared his views about the Z-9 helicopter clash.
Looking visibly sad, the man said he did not believe the crash was an accident, hence calling for a thorough investigation.

“Actually, there is nothing really to say other than to say that they should investigate this very well, because I don’t believe that it is a mere accident. I may be wrong, but accidents could happen, but looking at the circumstances surrounding this, I feel that an in-depth investigation should be done.”
Traditional funeral for Peter Anala
He also opened up on the plans by the family to hold a traditional funeral, adding that details of the funeral would have to be decided by the family at a later date.
“From here, when we get back to Tamale, we will plan a funeral for him. Traditionally, we have to do a funeral after this, and we will do it, but I don’t know how soon it will be. When we get home, we will do the planning.”
Peter Anala’s widow pays tribute
The widow of the late Squadron Leader got many emotional as she paid tribute to her late husband at the state funeral for the victims of the helicopter crash on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Details of the helicopter crash
Peter Anala was one of eight individuals who met their untimely deaths on August 6 after the Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter they were aboard crashed in a thick forest at Adansi Sikaman, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
Among those who died were Defence Minister Dr. Omane Boamah, NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong, Dr. Alhaji Murtala Muhammed, MP for Tamale Central and Minister for Environment, Science & Technology, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, and Samuel Aboagye, Former Parliamentary Candidate.
Flying Officer Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah were the others who also died.

Omane Boamah’s children pay their last respects
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that the children of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah attended the state burial on Friday, August 15.
They read out a tribute where they shared their fond memories of the late Defence Minister before his death, offering an emotional tribute in the wake of the tragic helicopter crash.
