Award-winning Ghanaian singer, Wendy Asiamah Addo, professionally known as Wendy Shay, has shared the lessons she has learned over her seven years in the music industry. She revealed that her rise to fame has not been without struggles and challenges.

 

In a candid interview with Doreen Avio and Kwame Dadzie on Hitz FM on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the musician reflected on her experiences since she entered the industry. She shared the wisdom gained through her successes and hardships.

When asked about the biggest lesson her journey has taught her, the “Uber Driver” hitmaker said that success does not come easily. According to her, every great achievement comes with its own set of challenges. She emphasized that the road to greatness often includes obstacles that shape and strengthen those who are meant to succeed.

Wendy Shay also disclosed that she has faced many instances of being underestimated and disrespected in the industry, particularly because she is a woman.

“It may not look like it, but I have been looked down upon and undermined too many times, not only because of when I came but more because I’m a woman. You know it’s not easy for women in this industry, and Doreen, you can attest to that, right?” She said.

Despite these challenges, she has learned to stay resilient and focused. She views every setback as a chance for growth. According to her, these experiences have taught her to value patience, hard work, and faith in her talent.
