The Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG) has held a media engagement session as part of its Awareness Month Campaign to deepen public understanding of the role of insurance brokers and highlight their importance in Ghana’s insurance landscape.
The event, held on Friday, October 31, at the Accra City Hotel, brought together media practitioners, trade associations, insurance brokers, and other key industry players. It aimed to foster stronger collaboration between IBAG and the media, and to correct misconceptions surrounding insurance and the work of brokers.
The President of IBAG, Mr. Shaibu Ali, encouraged the public to engage the services of professional insurance brokers, emphasizing that brokers are well-trained to help clients select the most suitable insurance products, negotiate favorable terms, and ensure efficient claims processing. He also expressed concern about the growing misconceptions clients have about the insurance industry and urged continuous education to build trust.
He explained that insurance brokers operate independently and represent the interests of clients rather than insurance companies. Their role is to guide individuals and businesses in securing the right insurance coverage at competitive rates and to assist them throughout the claims process.
The Vice President of IBAG, Stephen Yeboah, also urged the public to make insurance a priority, describing it as an essential safety net during unexpected events. He stressed that purchasing the right insurance offers financial protection and peace of mind.

This forms part of IBAG’s broader campaign under the theme “The Insurance Broker: Your Gateway to the Insurance Market,” which seeks to enhance public confidence in insurance brokers and promote wider insurance penetration nationwide.
