The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has relaunched its incursion into the troubled Offin Shelterbelt Forest Reserve in the Ashanti Region.
The taskforce targeted and destroyed illegal mining camps established within the forest.
The force has recently conducted a series of raids in the Apemkro and Anwiafutu sections, dismantling camps that are destroying the forest in the search for gold.
During today’s operation in the Ataso section, the team seized two excavators and destroyed pumping machines and other equipment.
The illegal miners, however, managed to escape.
