Ghana Immigration Service officer AICO II Japhet Boateng Kyei died on July 19, 2025, after being struck by a Hyundai Veloster (DV 9050Y-25) while assisting a stranded motorist near the Accra Arts Centre.
Preliminary reports indicate the officer had successfully helped a driver with vehicle troubles and was returning to his parked car when the accident occurred. The impact proved fatal, with emergency responders pronouncing him dead at the scene.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident as viral footage of the aftermath circulates online. The GIS has yet to issue an official statement regarding the tragedy.
