The Adabraka District Court has adjourned the case involving the second suspect in the alleged murder of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah to September 4, 2025.
The adjournment followed a heated exchange between defence counsel and the prosecution over the health condition of the second accused, Thomas Zigah, also known as Nii Jaase.
The defence counsel urged the court to allow the suspect to be treated at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital instead of the Police Hospital, arguing that his condition had worsened while in custody at the Railway Police Station.
Prosecution opposed the application, stressing that the accused had already received medical attention at the Police Hospital on two occasions and had been treated and discharged.
The court declined the defence’s request, ruling that a formal application would be required if a change of hospital was necessary.
The defence further requested a one-week adjournment to allow for a medical report on the accused, but the prosecution objected, noting that investigations had now extended beyond Accra and could not be completed within a week.
The judge refused the request and fixed the next hearing for September 4.
The case, which has attracted national attention, stems from the disappearance and killing of 38-year-old Amoah, whose charred body was found on July 9 at Abuom Junction near Kwabenya.
The prime suspect, Bright Aweh, had earlier been remanded into police custody after first appearing before the court on August 8.
