Member of Parliament for Pusiga, Ayamba Ayii Laadi, has described the recent stampede during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise at El-Wak Sports Stadium as an event ordained by Almighty Allah, emphasizing that the tragic deaths could not have been prevented.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament while expressing condolences to the families of the deceased and the nation, the legislator noted that death is inevitable and occurs according to divine will.

She stated, “There is nothing that happens without happening at the right time. This is what Almighty Allah has ordained for them. Today is their day; no matter how, no matter what, no matter who was there—even if all the presidents in the world were present—once it is ordained by Allah that they will die today, they will. That is what has happened, and that is the will of Allah.”

While she spoke, shock and disbelief were evident on the faces of some of her colleagues, and at one point, a faint exclamation of “Ei!”—a sound of surprise—was heard echoing through the chamber, highlighting the emotional weight of her words.

She further assured that no one desired the tragedy to occur. “No boy wanted them dead,” he said, urging Ghanaians to take solace in the Almighty.

The comments follow the tragic stampede that occurred Wednesday morning, November 12, 2025, at about 6:20 a.m., when a surge of applicants breached security protocols and rushed through the stadium gates ahead of the scheduled recruitment screening. The incident resulted in the deaths of six potential recruits, with several others injured and receiving emergency care at the 37 Military Hospital.

The MP’s remarks come amid nationwide mourning and calls for safety measures in future recruitment exercises.
