America’s Got Talent has a new champion. The NBC hit competition series wrapped up its landmark 20th season on Wednesday, Sept. 24, with comeback contestant Jessica Sanchez taking home the $1 million grand prize.

The announcement came after two nights of electrifying performances from 10 finalists, who took the stage on Tuesday, Sept. 23, before the winner was revealed in the highly anticipated finale.

Sanchez, who first auditioned for the show in its debut season back in 2006, returned nearly two decades later to make a triumphant comeback — this time nine months pregnant. Her powerful rendition of “Die With a Smile” sealed her victory and earned her a standing ovation.

The Season 20 finale lineup was packed with talent, ranging from rappers Mama Duke, Micah Palace and Chris Turner, to the Leo High School a cappella choir, singers Jourdan Blue and Steve Ray Ladson, aerial duo Sirca Marea, and dance groups Team Recycled and LightWire.

The show also turned into a star-studded concert, with guest appearances from Ciara, who brought down the house performing “Level Up” alongside Team Recycled, Leona Lewis teaming with LightWire, Aloe Blacc performing “The Man” with the Leo High School Choir, Manuel Turizo joining forces with Micah Palace, and The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue reprising Jourdan Blue’s unforgettable audition cover of “Breakeven.”

In a nod to AGT history, Season 19 winner Richard Goodall returned to perform with Journey’s Neal Schon, while fan-favorite trap choir Sainted collaborated with Mama Duke.

Host Terry Crews guided viewers through Tuesday’s recap before the suspense-filled reveal.

Now in its 20th year, America’s Got Talent continues to dominate summer television as the No. 1 entertainment broadcast, with a massive social media footprint boasting 1.7 billion video views across digital platforms this season alone.

For Sanchez, the win is more than just a career milestone — it’s a life-changing gift for her growing family as she prepares to welcome her daughter.
