The English forward, on loan from Manchester United, was handed his first start for the club since joining in the summer in what served as Barcelona’s final dress rehearsal before the new season.

Fermin Lopez broke the deadlock in the 21st minute, finishing a sweeping move to ignite the home crowd.

Fourteen minutes later, Lopez struck again, doubling the lead and tightening Barca’s grip on the game.

Two minutes on, Rashford got himself on the highlight reel. With a clever pass that split the defence, he set up Raphinha to make it 3-0.

By the 42nd minute, Ballon d’Or hopeful Lamine Yamal had added his own magic, curling in a signature finish to make it four before halftime.

Marcus Rashford’s unbelievable miss

Then came the moment Rashford will want to forget. Through on goal after rounding Como’s keeper, the 27-year-old found himself staring at an empty net. Somehow, he sent the ball wide.

Raphinha, standing nearby, froze in disbelief before breaking into a smile.

It was clear to his teammates that Rashford’s touch of the evening had deserted him in that instant.

Social media wasted no time. Clips of the miss went viral, sparking a mix of mockery and sympathy.

@MisterBWO teased:

“This is just the beginning 😂. Still more to come.”

@BigYolo_ chimed in:

“United has ripped off Barca 🤣”

@TheMightyRatio added:

“You can take the boy out of Man U, but you can’t take the Man U out of him.”

@KennedyDiMera was ruthless:

“Rashford is from Manchester; that is normal there…lads should give him a bit of time 😂😂😂”

But @RandomFPL offered a kinder take:

“Horrible miss, Rash, but I really love what I’m seeing. This team was tailor-made for his game. 30+ G/A season loading.”

Rashford’s night ended at halftime, with Ferran Torres replacing him.

Meanwhile, Yamal wasted little time in grabbing his second goal of the match, making it 5-0 just four minutes into the second half, as noted by GOAL.

While the miss will linger in conversation, Rashford’s assist and overall link-up play showed why Barcelona brought him in.

According to Flashscore, the Manchester United loanee will hope to leave the memes behind when the Catalan side travel to Mallorca on August 16 for their La Liga opener.
