Rising Ghanaian artist Kay Study is set to release his much-anticipated single “Why Lie” — a raw, emotional hip-hop/trap-drill record inspired by real-life heartbreak and self-reflection.
Recorded in June 2024, “Why Lie” was born out of pain after Kay Study experienced his first heartbreak. The song was never intended for release, but after fans and close listeners connected deeply with it, he decided to officially put it out under his independent label, Road Wave Records.
Blending melodic drill vibes with heartfelt lyrics, “Why Lie” captures the sting of betrayal and the journey of regaining strength. It’s a song that speaks to anyone who’s ever been lied to or let down by someone they trusted.
“I recorded it when I was going through my first heartbreak,” Kay Study shared. “I didn’t plan to release it, but people started playing it and connecting to it — so I knew it was something real.”
The single showcases Kay Study’s ability to fuse storytelling with street emotion, offering listeners both pain and power in one record.
