The flagbearer aspirant, who is also the MP for Assin Central, told the delegates that he needs only one attempt to change the fortunes of the party.
He further urged delegates of the NPP to change him for a new candidate if he fails to deliver power in 2028.
“Mo nsɔ me nhwɛ (please try me). I need only four years, and if I’m not able to deliver, you can boot me out and bring in a new person. If my replacement comes, they will learn from my experience. If I do deliver, then you retain me,” he said.
“Please, let’s develop the country and develop our party. We have to create businessmen, we have to create rich people in the party,” he added.
The NPP flagbearer race
Scheduled for January 31, 2026, the NPP presidential primary is a crucial event that will determine the party’s candidate for the 2028 general elections.
Kennedy Agyapong’s passionate appeal to delegates, therefore, underscores the high stakes and tensions within the party as it approaches this significant contest.
So far, five prominent members of the NPP, including Kennedy Agyapong and Ghana’s former Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, have filed their nominations to contest in the January 31 primary.
