Emerging Afrobeat talent Khelsa, born Daniel Asare Gyamfi, is carving his own space in the genre with the release of his newest single, “Dealer”—a track that blends heartfelt emotion, infectious rhythm, and polished production into a powerful musical statement.
Hailing from Akyim Awenare in Ghana, Khelsa’s journey into music began at the age of nine, when he started drumming in church. That early passion laid the foundation for a creative evolution that would take form professionally seven years ago. Influenced heavily by Nigerian Afrobeat giants, Khelsa has spent the past few years developing a sound that is both authentic and resonant—fueled by his Ghanaian roots and West African musical culture.
“Dealer” is more than just a love song—it’s an expression of affection and appreciation, delivered through smooth vocals, engaging melodies, and a richly layered beat. “The song talks about love and how important she is to me,” Khelsa shares. “Even though I wasn’t in that situation myself, my creativity brought up the whole melody and lyrics.”
The track wasn’t rushed. It took months to complete—partly due to Khelsa’s fluctuating mood during the writing process. “That period was emotionally unstable for me,” he explains. “But my brother and a few of my close producer friends stayed with me through it all. We built this together—from beat making to recording.”
Khelsa also recalls a defining studio moment: “One guy came up with some crazy vibes idea during recording—that completely shifted the energy in the room. From there, everything flowed.” Those spontaneous moments, coupled with the collaborative effort of dedicated producers, shaped the unique vibe of “Dealer”.
Released on October 11, 2024, the single has already made waves on digital streaming platforms (DSPs), bolstered by several viral video snippets circulating online. The reception, according to Khelsa, has been overwhelmingly positive. “It really did well and is still doing well,” he says. “Seeing how far I’ve come since I started drumming in church is what keeps me going.”
Although he’s not currently involved in programs or live events this year, Khelsa remains committed to consistently releasing singles, EPs, and even organizing his own shows in the future. His music, as he puts it, is crafted to give listeners peace, joy, and a deep emotional connection. “After listening to any album or song I release, I want people to find something—whether it’s joy, healing, or just good vibes.”
For those looking to discover or follow Khelsa’s journey, his music is available on all digital streaming platforms, and fans can stay connected with him across all social media platforms.
As he continues to push the boundaries of his creativity, Khelsa stands as a testament to what passion, persistence, and authenticity can achieve in today’s Afrobeat scene. His advice to aspiring artists? “Never give up on your dreams—and always let what’s inside you come out.”
