This year has been marked by a wave of tragedies in Ghana.
from a road accident that killed 16 young people, to the death of highlife legend Daddy Lumba, and most recently, a helicopter crash that claimed life of state officials. The string of painful losses has left many reflecting on the fragility of life.
Musician Kofi Kinaata shared his own reflections on social media on Monday, August 25. He admitted that the tragedies have weighed heavily on him, especially after realizing he had taken the same flight route as the ill-fated helicopter earlier this year. “Moments like these really make you question life… what’s the point, when it can all end in an instant?” he wrote.
From the loss of 16 kids, to the passing of our legendary musicians, and now the helicopter tragedy, it’s been weighing heavily on my soul. What makes it even harder is knowing I’ve been on that same flight twice this year. That thought just won’t leave me. Moments like these… pic.twitter.com/JCLQXKdaZe

In response, Kinaata has poured his emotions into music, releasing a new song titled “It Is Finished.” The song captures his grief and offers listeners a space to process the collective sorrow of a nation facing so much loss.
