Ghanaian musician Nathaniel Totimeh, renowned by his stage name Kokovelli, has celebrated a remarkable academic achievement by earning a master’s degree from the prestigious Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

This significant milestone was reached in August 2025, showcasing his dedication to both his education and musical career.

Kokovelli bags a master’s degree from GIMPA

Born in Accra to Prince Totimeh and Mavis Ofosu Appiah, Kokovelli has made a name for himself in the Ghanaian music scene, captivating audiences with his exceptional musical talent and electrifying dance moves.

At his graduation ceremony, he turned heads in a stylishly tailored white long-sleeve shirt paired with a navy blue suit that accentuated his dapper appearance.

Adding a touch of flair, Kokovelli accessorised with a vibrant yellow floral African print tie and a matching pocket square, which created a visually striking and youthful ensemble.

Musician Kokovelli’s educational journey

Kokovelli’s educational foundation was laid at Datus Complex, followed by his time at Morning Star School and Ridge Church School for his elementary and junior high education.

He then attended Mfantsipim Secondary School, where he honed not only his academic skills but also his passion for music. He later enrolled at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he balanced his studies with performing at various shows to support himself financially, ensuring he didn’t burden his parents.

Musican Kokovelli’s musical career

During his university days in 1998, Kokovelli was part of a rap group alongside the legendary Ghanaian musician Obour.

Initially, his parents were sceptical about his pursuit of a music career, but he ultimately earned their pride by launching his self-produced album, ZaaZa.

His career took a significant leap forward when his former manager, Nat Kwabena Adisi, famously known as Bola Ray, facilitated a major record deal with Agiecoat.

Kokovelli joined the esteemed Trinity clan, collaborating with well-known artists such as Samini and K.K. Fosu.

His incredible stage presence and captivating performances led him to international stages, where he entertained crowds in cities such as London, Italy, the U.S.A., and France, showcasing his unique blend of energetic performances and clever lyrical wordplay.

Musician Kokovelli’s awards and nominations

Throughout his career, Kokovelli has attained numerous accolades and nominations, asserting his influence in the music industry.

At the Ghana Music Awards in 2002, he received nods for New Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration Song of the Year, Artiste of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Hiplife Artiste of the Year.
