A gold dealer has been shot dead by unknown gunmen at Konongo Low Cost in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Citi News reported that the gold dealer has so far only been identified as Awal.

The shooting occurred August 13, 2025, at about 8:15 p.m., while the victim was returning home from work.
The Assembly Member for the Amerfa Kyekyewere Electoral Area, Samuel Baiden, told Citi News Awal was tailed to his home and killed.
The attackers are believed to have escaped with a bag that the deceased used to store money and gold. It remains unclear if the attackers got away with anything.
He has since called on the government and security agencies to strengthen security in the area to help prevent such violent attacks in the future.
