Kumasi Asante Kotoko has transferred striker Albert Amoah to Libyan side Al Ahli Benghazi.
A club statement on Friday night said “we can confirm the permanent transfer of forward Albert Amoah to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi.”
“Asante Kotoko is grateful to Albert for his services to the club and his achievements with us. We wish him the very best for the future.”
The club announced the transfer, two hours after Friday night’s embarrassing 5-1 loss to Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) of Morocco in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final round eliminator.
Kotoko lost the tie 6-1 on aggregate, having lost the first leg at home by a goal to nil.Amoah leaves as the club’s top scorer, having scored four goals in five matches.
The former Great Olympics striker scored 12 goals from twenty eight matches last season, and looked set to improve on that tally.
With Amoah out of the club, Donzo Morifing will now lead Kotoko’s attack. The Guinean is yet to score in seven matches in all competitions.
