The election petition filed by Kobina Tahiru Hammond, popularly known as K.T. Hammond, has been dismissed by the Obuasi High Court in the Ashanti Region.
The petition challenged the victory of Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi Dorani in the 2024 Adansi Asokwa parliamentary election.

Justice Kwabena Twumasi, the presiding judge, in his ruling on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, struck out the case and imposed costs of GH¢60,000 on the former legislator, describing the petition as a waste of the court’s time.
Richard Andy, counsel for Dorani, speaking after the ruling, indicated that the petition lacked merit, expressing relief that the matter had been resolved.
He said the MP would now fully concentrate on his responsibilities without being bothered by any challenge to his legitimacy.
Hammond lost the Adansi Asokwa seat to Dorani in the 2024 general elections by 954 votes, after serving as MP for over two decades.
The National Democratic Congress candidate secured 14,229 votes, while Mr Hammond polled 13,275.
Hammond filed a petition at the High Court on January 15, 2025, challenging the outcome of the poll after expressing dissatisfaction.
He, however, failed to appear in court on three occasions, leading to the court’s dismissal of the case.
