In a video spotted by YEN.com.gh, the 86-year-old former President Kufuor was seen arriving at the event in a wheelchair, prompting concerns and tributes from Ghanaians.
Despite his health challenges, the former leader was present to honour the memory of the late Asantehemaa, a revered figure in the Ashanti Kingdom.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party for the 2024 Presidential elections, also attended the event to show respect and solidarity with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the Ashanti people.

Appiah Stadium reacts to Asantehemaa’s death
Meanwhile, controversial political commentator Appiah Stadium has reacted to the passing of Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
In an emotional interview with a Ghanaian media outlet, he rebuked a journalist for not wearing appropriate attire.
He emphasised the need for respect and attire that matched the somber mood at the Manhyia Palace.
Appiah Stadium, a staunch NDC supporter, expressed his condolences to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Ashanti Kingdom, calling the queen mother’s death a significant loss for both Ghana and the world.
Who was Nana Konadu Yiadom III?
The 98-year-old Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who reigned for eight years, died on Thursday, August 7, 2025. She was born in 1927.
Her father was known as Opanin Kofi Fofie, popularly known as Koofie or Keewuo, a carpenter by profession from Besease near Atimatim in Kumasi

Nana Konadu Yiadom III, at the age of 90, took over the throne from Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II in 2017.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III was the elder sister of Otumfuo Osei Tutu and the daughter of Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who sadly passed away at age 109 on November 15, 2016.
She reigned as Asantehemaa for 39 years.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III Celebrates Otumfuo’s birthday
YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that three months ago, Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III, being alive, visited Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace to mark his 75th birthday.
The Queen mother presented gifts and joined in the celebration, which included cutting a large cake in honour of the revered king.
Otumfuo had just returned from abroad and was warmly welcomed by traditional leaders and citizens at the Prempeh International Airport
