Deputy National Security Coordinator Limuna Muniru, former Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Samuel Sarpong, and former NDC Parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East, Samuel Aboagye, also perished in the helicopter crash.
The crew members who also lost their lives were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
This unfortunate incident was confirmed at an emergency press conference by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, at the Jubilee House, the seat of government of Ghana.
According to the Chief of Staff, the helicopter was en route to Obuasi when contact was lost shortly after taking off from Accra at 9:12 a.m.
Ghana doom’s prophecy for Ghana
Although the cause of the crash remains unknown and authorities have yet to confirm further details, a Ghanaian man, identified as Abeku Adams Ekumfi, seemed to have foresaw this unfortunate incident.
In a Facebook post dated July 28, 2025, he wrote that Ghana would be hit by a national tragedy on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
“On 6th August something will happen. Another thing will happen on the 9th,” he wrote.
Moments after the helicopter accident was confirmed by Ghana’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Ekumfi reshared his July 28 post, suggesting that he had some intelligence.
“The corrupt system kept us out of our purpose for which we were sent here, so our country suffers like a blind man in a dance theatre. I was sent here to be a Military General and Intelligence Chief, but when I wanted to join the Military and the Intelligence Service, they told me I needed protocol, and someone had to do me a favour. I said, ‘Over my dead body.’ If I could not enter on my own merit, then I would be a farmer. Nothing beats the freedom of independence of thought and allegiance.”
