Brennan Johnson’s goal broke the stalemate on 35 minutes after slotting in from close range and Joao Palhinha’s debut strike later confirmed a commanding win for his new side as Mohammed Kudus shone without scoring.

Mohammed Kudus once again stood out for Thomas Frank’s side, delivering another good performance despite not registering a goal or assist. James Trafford was fortunate not to see red in the 39th minute after clattering into Kudus with a knee to the chest and handling the ball outside his area.

Now, here’s what the English press had to say about Mohammed Kudus’ output following Tottenham’s impressive win at the Etihad.

The Guardian commented on the Ghanaian players’ performance in the 67th minute, during their live text commentary, saying:

”Silva, as graceful as he is, looks very off the pace. Kudus works hard to dispossess him deep in the Spurs half. He and Richarlison have been full of running.”

”Gave City nightmares from long balls, with his pace and strength a constant threat. Feels almost impossible to get the ball off him and that’s so crucial in matches like this.”

As for Spurs Web, they assigned a 7.5 rating to Mohammed Kudus explaining that he wasn’t as explosive as he was in the Burnley match, facing significantly tougher opposition this time, but he remained just as important in transition as he had been against PSG.

According to them, his strength, which can often be underestimated, was something Spurs capitalized on, both when playing balls into the right channel and when pressing high. The former West Ham man, who had the spotlight on him ahead of Saturday’s clash, also put in a strong defensive shift, working hard to help protect the lead in the second half.

Kudus also received a modest 6.5/10 from GiveMeSport, reflecting a less-than-stellar review from the outlet. It wasn’t the same spark from the Black Stars midfielder, according to GiveMeSport, who noted his display lacked the fire of the Burnley game.
