Tens of thousands of fans filled the Black Star Square in Accra to the gills on Saturday, 18th October 2025, for Shatta Wale’s much-anticipated birthday concert, ‘Shatta Fest 2025 x Shattabration: The King Calls’.
Although the free concert was scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm, fans started arriving as early as midday. By sunset, the entire venue and the adjoining streets were jam-packed with supporters, many clad in white to celebrate the self-acclaimed Dancehall King.
Shatta Wale, whose birthday fell on 17th October, said the concert was his way of showing appreciation to fans who have stood by him over the years.
The event featured a lineup of performers, including Sarkodie, Samini, Wendy Shay, Medikal, Kelvynboy, Amerado, DarkoVibes, Tinny, JZyNo, Kwame Yogot and DopeNation, among a blizzard of other top music stars. Each act thrilled the crowd with energetic performances that kept the atmosphere electric throughout the night.
In one of the night’s highlights, Shatta Wale honoured rapper Tinny with a citation and an emotional tribute for supporting him during his early days in music. He also played peacemaker between Nigerian influencers Peller and Big Jiggy, calling them on stage to reconcile and shake hands.
The concert ended around 7:05 am on Sunday.
Shatta Fest 2025 was powered by MoMo Fest (Mobile Money Ghana Limited), with support from Shaxi and Charterhouse.
A lot of rave reviews from music fans, critics and creative industry aficionados have started pouring in, hailing Shatta Wale for his star power and influence.
Born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., Shatta Wale is one of Ghana’s most influential reggae-dancehall artistes. He has produced several hit songs, including Dancehall King, My Level and Taking Over. His collaboration with Beyoncé on Already helped cement his international reputation as one of Ghana’s biggest music exports.
Over the years, he has won numerous local and international awards and has built one of the most passionate fan bases in African music.
Meanwhile, Shatta Wale has submitted his latest single Street Crown to the Recording Academy for consideration in next year’s Grammy Awards, expressing optimism about earning a nomination.
