Before becoming a music legend, Daddy Lumba encountered some special people who groomed him, including his mother, Ama Saah and a prominent teacher, Madam Acheampong, affectionately called Mama Acheampong, who helped him realise his singing talent.

Mama Acheampong was a teacher in Daddy Lumba’s Senior High School, Juaben SHS, located in the Ejisu-Juaben District of the Ashanti Region in Ghana.

She taught them Agric Science in school, and during their engagements, she discovered Lumba’s talent.

In an old interview which has surfaced, Mama Acheampong opened up about the genesis of her relationship with Lumba.

“I started the school choir in 1976, but in 1980, I travelled to study abroad. When I returned, I encountered Lumba in the school choir. He was a handsome, slim young man, and when I asked his name, he told me Charles Kwadwo Fosu,” she said.
