Asante Kotoko emerged champions of the 2025 Toyota Cup following a dramatic 3-2 penalty shootout victory over South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
The highly anticipated clash ended goalless in regulation time, but the Porcupine Warriors held their nerve in the shootout, with goalkeeper Mohammed Camara saving four penalties to seal the win.
Despite a promising start, the first half failed to live up to expectations, with both sides unable to find a breakthrough in a largely uneventful opening 45 minutes.
Kaizer Chiefs, however, nearly snatched it late on after being awarded a penalty in the 83rd minute, but Miguel fluffed his lines from the spot.
The miss proved costly as the match headed straight to penalties, where drama unfolded.
Camara’s heroics in the shootout sparked wild celebrations from the Kotoko faithful, as the team lifted the Toyota Cup for the first time.

The win was a huge morale booster for Kotoko as they continue their pre-season tour in South Africa.
It also forms a key part of their preparations ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League and continental campaigns.
Next on the agenda for the Porcupine Warriors is the GHALCA Top 4 tournament, which is scheduled to kick off on August 20 in Ghana.
