- The Ghana international is the talk of town following the 2025/26 Premier League Opening Day as Spurs defeated Burnley
- Mohammed Kudus has fired subtle jabs at his former side, West Ham United, after assisting Richarlison to score a brace
Mohammed Kudus didn’t hold back, throwing a clear jab at West Ham United following what has been hailed as one of the finest Tottenham Hotspur debuts in recent memory, much to the dismay of David Sullivan.
Kudus transferred from West Ham to Spurs in a deal valued at around £55 million ($75 million). The Ghanaian forward has committed to a six-year contract with Thomas Frank’s team, marking the first direct transfer between the two clubs since Scott Parker back in 2011.

The former Ajax man dazzled on his Premier League debut for his new team. According to Flashscore, Kudus provided two brilliant assists to help Richarlison score twice as Tottenham defeated Burnley 3-0 on Saturday, August 16 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The 24-year-old Ghanaian, who may soon team up with Savinho at Spurs, also put in a strong performance during Tottenham’s 2025 UEFA Cup penalty shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in Udine on August 13.
Kudus aims dig at West Ham
Tottenham fans have been teasing West Ham over the signing of Kudus, claiming it proves Spurs are the superior club. According to Hammers News, at both the Super Cup final and their season opener against Burnley, Spurs supporters were heard singing a new chant about Kudus aimed at West Ham.
During West Ham’s 3-0 loss to newly-promoted Sunderland on the opening day, fans displayed banners portraying Kudus as a snake, with the word ‘JUDUS’ emblazoned on them. Videos have also surfaced showing Hammers supporters chanting derogatory remarks about Kudus in the concourses at the Stadium of Light.
Kudus was frequently criticized for being selfish and reluctant to pass. Some argued this stemmed from West Ham’s overall lack of quality, forcing him to take matters into his own hands.
Now, as he quickly rises to hero status at Spurs, the Ghanaian playmaker has taken a pointed swipe at his former club.
In an interview with BBC’s Match of the Day, Kudus explained that he strives to stand out by getting the ball, taking on opponents, and creating opportunities. He expressed his happiness at being in a team where he can play freely, supported by his teammates.
“So I’m glad that I’m in a team where I can do that freely and also with the help of the teammates.” Mohammed Kudus said.
He emphasized his love for enjoying the game and entertaining the fans, believing that’s what football is all about. At the same time, he remains focused and serious, aiming to help the team secure points — which is exactly what has happened so far.
Savinho to team up with Kudus, Richarlison

Despite the significant investment in former West Ham star Kudus, Spurs remain active in the transfer market, with Frank eager to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
