Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has showered Mohammed Kudus with glowing praise following the Ghanaian forward’s outstanding performance in Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-1 victory over Leeds United in the Premier League on October 4, 2025.

Rooney: “Kudus is a joy to watch”

Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day, Rooney couldn’t hide his admiration for the former Ajax and West Ham star, describing his display as “a joy to watch.”

“He’s in incredible form right now. When you look at today’s numbers, duels won, successful dribbles, shots, touches in the box, and sprints, he’s leading across all those areas,” Rooney said.

The ex-Manchester United captain added that Mohammed Kudus has settled in seamlessly at Tottenham and is already among the Premier League’s most thrilling players this campaign.

Kudus dominates the EPL’s dribbling charts

According to Transfermarkt, Kudus has registered four assists in seven Premier League matches, while also topping the league for successful dribbles. Rooney believes those stats underline how influential the Ghanaian has become in Tottenham’s fluid attacking setup.

“He’s made a massive impact since joining Spurs. With four assists already and now a goal, he’s proving to be one of the signings of the season. If he keeps this up, he’ll be among the best players in the Premier League.”

Kudus’ debut goal couldn’t have come at a better moment, as his strike helped Spurs overcome a resilient Leeds side in front of their home crowd, with the ex-Ajax man now in really hot form, earning huge attention from the respected Wayne Rooney.

Rooney, who scored 253 goals in 559 appearances for Manchester United, believes that the breakthrough goal will elevate Kudus even further.

“The only thing missing from his performances was a goal,” Rooney said. “Now that he’s got it, I think this will push him to another level. He’s been an absolutely top signing for Tottenham.”
