Ghana has officially launched its first-ever all-female music festival, She Rhythms, at Alliance Française in Accra.

The three-day festival, scheduled for 4th to 6th December 2025, is a collaboration between MUSIGA and Alliance Française Accra, powered by Ram Media Concepts, and aims to empower women in the music industry.

The launch ceremony featured addresses from leading figures in music and culture.

Chairperson Nana Adwoa Awindor said She Rhythms was created as a platform to celebrate and amplify the voices of female musicians. MUSIGA President Bessa Simons added that women deserved equal recognition and opportunities in the music space.

The night was filled with captivating performances. Gospel star Celestine Donkor set the tone with a moving set, followed by Aklerh’s energetic dancehall delivery. Maya Blu impressed with a soulful performance, and DJ Nyce showed that women could match the best on the turntables. American artiste Kim Poole brought international flair with her fusion style, while Lady PJ and Efya, the official face of She Rhythms Festival, thrilled the audience with their artistry.

Alliance Française’s Accra Marketing Manager described the festival as a cultural milestone. Industry leaders including Jones Nelson of the GTA, Edwina Assan of the GCF, Bernice Dei Kumah of NFB and Robert Blah of Charterhouse all shared their support, stressing the impact She Rhythms could have on the creative arts sector.

The event also featured a traditional performance by Amamre and a cake-cutting ceremony symbolising the official start of the festival. Among the distinguished guests were Prof Esi Sutherland-Addy, former MUSIGA President Diana Hopeson, media personality Black Coffee and Dr Samantha Ama Hollingworth, alongside several MUSIGA executives.

Closing the programme, Abena Ruthy, MUSIGA’s 2nd Vice President and head of the Union’s Gender Desk, delivered a vote of thanks, reaffirming the commitment to promoting gender equity in the industry. The night’s proceedings were steered by Hitz FM’s Doreen Avio.

She Rhythms Festival is expected to be a landmark celebration of female artistry, resilience and excellence, featuring performances, collaborations and mentorship opportunities designed to amplify women’s voices in music.
