Ghanaian social media influencer, Nana Tea, has made headlines once again for his philanthropic efforts, using his MTN Digital Hero of Change prize money to change the life of a physically challenged man.
Earlier this year, Nana Tea, known in private life as James Annor Tetteh, was named the MTN Digital Hero of Change in recognition for his many years of philanthropic work.

For winning the award, the social media influencer was rewarded with a cash prize of GH¢30,000.
However, instead of splashing the money on his own personal needs, he decided to use it to make more impact in the lives of the poor and needy.
In a social media post, Nana Tea said that after receiving the money, he donated 10 per cent of the amount, totalling GH¢3,000, to God to thank Him for blessing him with a supportive online community that consistently supports his philanthropic work.
For the remaining 90 per cent of the prize money, the social media influencer stated that he decided to use it to transform the living condition of a physically challenged man, known as Mr Tawiah, who looked elderly and frail.
According to Nana Tea, Mr Tawiah was a herdsman but was forced to quit the job after he was struck down by a disability.
Without a wheelchair or a close relative to support his mobility, Mr Tawiah drags his bum on the ground to attend to his personal needs.
Aside from his physical challenges, Mr Tawiah also faced several material challenges, living in a dilapidated building, with leaking roofs and falling walls. The floor was neither tiled nor cemented, and he also slept on an old and overused student mattress.

Touched by this, Nana Tea and his team visited Mr Tawiah with cement and other building materials to change his living condition.
In a video shared by Nana Tea, the physically challenged man’s room was transformed beyond recognition.
The leaking roof was changed, the falling walls were replaced, and the floor was tiled, with the interior and exterior beautifully painted.
Aside from these, Mr Tawiah’s room was fitted with modern electric appliances, including a smart TV, a standing fan, and a fridge.
In addition to the above, he was also provided with a new bed, comfortable chair, wardrobe, a few clothes, toiletries, cash, and food items.
After the room was transformed, Mr Tawiah, overwhelmed with excitement, thanked Nana Tea for coming to his aid.
He also accepted Jesus as his Lord and Personal Saviour and was later baptised by Nana Tea and his team.
“When God gives you a platform, use it to bless others! How I used my MTN Digital Hero of Change award (cash prize) to change the life of a physically challenged man. And above all the material things he had, he gave his life to Christ and was baptised,” Nana Tea wrote.

After sharing the story, a US-based Ghanaian social media influencer, Naana Donkor Arthur (NDA), reached out to Nana Tea to support Mr Tawiah.
“Naana Donkor Arthur – NDA just called and was crying .. she felt so touched about the old man’s story. She has sent me 5000gh to get some groceries and shoes for him. God richly bless you, boss,” Nana Tea wrote.

Nana Tea supports a young baker
