National Democratic Congress chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah led a delegation to Obogu this past Saturday, offering comfort to grieving families following a devastating accident.
Sixteen members of the Saviour Church of Ghana perished on July 28 when their vehicle collided with a fuel tanker around 2:30 p.m. The church group was returning home from their annual gathering.
The community remains shaken by the tragedy, which also left four other members injured. Those hospitalized are reportedly responding well to treatment.
During the somber visit, Nketiah acknowledged the profound suffering, particularly for families who lost multiple loved ones in the single incident.
Addressing mourners, the NDC chairman struck a note of solemn acceptance. “If this was not the work of God, we would have been pointing accusing fingers at some people or something else,” Nketiah stated, urging resilience.
He conveyed heartfelt condolences from former President John Mahama and the entire NDC party to the bereaved. The delegation presented GH₵10,000 to the church itself and GH₵50,000 to the families directly affected by the loss.
