A 26-year-old woman from the Netherlands has caused a stir on social media after she explained how she took a bold step to leave her job and life behind to start over in Ghana.

In a video trending online, the woman, who introduced herself as Amber, said she made the spontaneous decision to quit her job in June 2025 and fly down to Accra with no plan.

According to her, she did not have concrete plans on how she would navigate her way in the country, but she just had to take such a risk. She just had to leave the Netherlands, even without a plan for her life.

She stated that she did not have a job lined up or contacts waiting for her, but she was willing to take the risk in pursuit of a new life experience.

The Dutch lady shared how she is now on a mission to secure employment in Ghana, which will allow her to stay longer in the country. She plans to explore both the formal job market and entrepreneurial opportunities.

In her words:

“Last June, I decided to quit my job in the Netherlands and move to Ghana without a plan, in hopes of finding a job here so I can stay a bit longer.”

Obroni woman hawks plantain chips in Accra

In a similar event, a white woman who recently moved to Ghana took to the streets of Accra to hawk plantain chips.

In a TikTok video, she is seen struggling to balance a tray of chips on her head after switching places with a local female street hawker. The experience left her impressed by the hard work and technique street vendors use daily.

She praised the resilience of the women and encouraged others to try it out to understand the skill involved.

“This was very tricky. The locals were all cheering me on. I have such respect for the amazing women who do this every day and with such heavy loads. To discover the science behind this awesome skill,” she said.
