Nicki Minaj has shocked fans once again after declaring on X (formerly Twitter) that she is canceling her plans to release her highly anticipated sixth studio album, originally slated for March 2026. The rapper’s posts early Wednesday (Oct. 15) reignited her ongoing feud with Jay-Z and Roc Nation, claiming they pressured her to release new music and go on tour.

“They came BEGGING the QUEEN for a tour & album & I said NOPE!!!!! LMFAO,” Minaj wrote. “Wanted to patch it up. They needed help from the QUEEN & the BARBZ.” She tagged Jay-Z directly in the post, adding, “I called the Barbz on the secret BARB phone & it was a resounding NOOOOOOOO. just like the casinooooooooooooooooooo.”

In another post, Minaj appeared to call off the album entirely, writing, “Ok I’m not going to put out the album anymore. No more music. Hope you’re happy now @sc. Bye, Barbz. Love you for life.”

The announcement left fans — affectionately known as the Barbz — stunned and emotional. Many took to X urging the rapper to take a social media break rather than shelving the project.

“Onika please… listen to us, the Barbz. We need you mother, now more than ever,” one fan pleaded. Another wrote, “Nicki, take a break from social media and heal. Sometimes silence says more than tweets ever will.”

The reason for Roc Nation’s involvement remains unclear. Minaj is signed to Republic Records/Universal Music Group and has no formal management ties with Roc Nation. However, her posts reflect months of tension with Jay-Z and Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, whom she has accused of trying to suppress her on social media.

The feud appears to have roots in previous industry drama, including lingering frustration from 2024, when Lil Wayne — Minaj’s longtime mentor — was reportedly passed over in favor of Kendrick Lamar for the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Billboard reports that requests for comment have been sent to Minaj, Jay-Z, and Roc Nation.

In September, Minaj had pinned a post revealing March 27, 2026, as the release date for her upcoming album — a post that remains atop her account despite her latest outburst.

Her last album, Pink Friday 2, was released in December 2023 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, earning 228,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. The record cemented her status as the first female rapper in history to achieve three No. 1 albums on the Billboard chart.

Whether Minaj’s latest announcement is a genuine cancellation or another heated social media moment remains to be seen. For now, fans are left hoping the “Queen of Rap” will cool off — and reconsider pulling the plug on one of 2026’s most anticipated releases.
