Nollywood–Ghallywood Collaboration “I BAD” to Premiere in Accra on October 31

Accra is set for one of the biggest film events of the year as I BAD — formerly titled Badagry — premieres on October 31, 2025, at Silverbird Cinemas, Accra Mall.

The film, a high-powered collaboration between Nollywood and Ghallywood, has been creating headlines across West Africa since its announcement. The original title sparked resistance from the historic town of Badagry, igniting controversy and conversations across social media and the press.

Produced by Ghana-based Nollywood filmmaker Destiny Austine Omon in partnership with Akogun Multimedia, I BAD features a powerhouse cast including legendary Nollywood actor Alex Usifo, Sam (Abacha), Yemi Blaq, Jude Orhoha, Ghanaian Nollywood actress Nana Yaa Agyare, and Nigerian-based Ghanaian actor Eric Afrifa. The film is directed by Mr. Davison Izegaegbe (DGN Nollywood), known for his gripping cinematic style and ability to draw powerful performances from his cast.

Part of the movie was filmed in Ososo, Edo State, with additional locations in Accra, Ghana and Lagos, Nigeria — bringing together multiple iconic West African backdrops. Speaking about the project, His Royal Highness, the Olososo of Ososo, praised the filmmakers for choosing Ososo as a location:

“I BAD has put Ososo on the map in a new way. The story being told will resonate far beyond Nigeria and Ghana. We are proud to have hosted the cast and crew and to see our town represented in such a powerful film,” the monarch said.

The film was privately previewed earlier this year at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City, drawing a full house that included traditional rulers, government officials, and top creative industry figures. Early reactions have described I BAD as “bold,” “gripping,” and “a conversation starter.”

“This is more than entertainment,” producer Destiny Austine Omon said. “This is a project that bridges Nigeria and Ghana and tells a story that challenges society, provokes thought, and entertains all at once.”

The red-carpet event starts at 5:00 PM, followed by two exclusive screenings — the first show at 6:00 PM and a second show at 8:00 PM — promising an unforgettable cinematic experience for attendees.
