Renowned gospel musician and preacher, Sonnie Badu, has heaped praises on Shatta Wale following the massive success of the Shatta Fest concert held last Saturday at the Independence Square in Accra.
The event, which celebrated Shatta Wale’s birthday, reportedly drew a crowd of over 100,000 fans, filling the historic venue in what many have described as one of the biggest gatherings for a single artist in Ghana.

In a Facebook post, Sonnie Badu described the turnout as unprecedented, comparing it to Ghana’s first Independence Day celebration led by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. “It’s never happened in the history of Ghana, not even on the day of our independence with Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. This is huge,” he wrote, adding that Shatta Wale’s connection with the streets is unmatched.
The Shatta Fest concert featured energetic performances from Shatta Wale and several other top acts including Sarkodie, King Promise, Wendy Shay, among others.
