National Organizer Henry Nana Boakye faced public confrontation during the New Patriotic Party’s July 19 National Delegates Conference.

Viral footage shows party operatives, locally termed “machomen,” shouting down Boakye popularly known as Nana B as he attempted to manage proceedings at Accra’s University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Witnesses confirm the operatives dismissed Boakye in Hausa with phrases like “Forget him,” overriding his directives. Additional clips show the organizer visibly agitated while complaining to allies about “disrespect.”

Party insiders, speaking anonymously, cited Boakye’s declining influence and absence during February’s critical Ablekuma North by-election as factors eroding his authority.

The incident highlights internal tensions within Ghana’s largest opposition party. Multiple NPP sources question Boakye’s effectiveness, with some advocating leadership changes ahead of 2026 internal elections. His diminished standing contrasts with earlier prominence as a rising figure in the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition.

No formal disciplinary action has been announced. The NPP communications directorate declined immediate comment.
