The Bono Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has reportedly been arrested by the police.

Details of his arrest remain unknown as the Ghana Police Service has yet to issue any official statement.

The NPP Bono Regional Chairman recently applied for asylum in Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

In a petition filed at the embassies of the countries named above, Abronye DC claimed to be facing political persecution, adding that his life was under threat.

He also accused the government of Ghana, led by former president John Dramani Mahama, of abusing state security powers.
