A video of the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, cheerfully singing and dancing to Shatta Wale’s Mahama Paper’s song has popped up online.
The video captured Omane Boamah in the studios of Joy FM for an interview, while the song played.
He excitedly started singing along while throwing his hands in the air as a sign of excitement to hear the song.

YEN.com.gh cannot say if the song was one of Omane Boamah’s favourites, but the way he sang with so much passion and smiles indicated that he liked the song.

Perhaps his closeness to President Mahama was also a reason for his behaviour in the video when the song started playing.
At a point, Omane Boamah jumped to his feet while singing and displaying a book with President Mahama’s photo as the cover.
The video, which was recorded many months ago, has resurfaced after the passing of Omane Boamah on August 6, 2025.
Omane Boamah, others die in helicopter crash
Omane Boamah, a past student of Pope John SHS (POJOSS) and a medical doctor, died in a devastating helicopter accident in the Sikaman Forest, located in the Adansi South District of the Ashanti Region.
The Ghana Armed Forces aircraft caught fire upon impact, claiming the lives of Omane Boamah and seven other passengers, including Dr. Murtala Mohammed, Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology.

The other government officials were Deputy National Security Coordinator Limuna Muniru, former Ashanti Regional Minister and current National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Vice Chairman Dr Samuel Sarpong, and former Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East and the deputy coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Samuel Aboagye.
The crew consisted of Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
The delegation had been en route to Obuasi for the official launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP). Omane Boamah was serving as President John Mahama’s representative at the event, after the President’s last-minute withdrawal from the programme.
On Friday, August 15, 2025, Boamah and five other victims of the helicopter crash were buried at the military cemetery in Accra following a state funeral. Two victims, Murtala and Limuna, who were muslims, had been buried at the same place on August 10.

Mahama appoints Omane Boamah, Murtala replacements
Meanwhile, President Mahama has selected ministers to replace Omane Boamah and Murtala Muhammed at the defence and environment ministries, respectively.
As reported by YEN.com.gh, Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson was tasked to oversee the Defence Ministry, while Lands and Natural Resources Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah takes over the Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation Ministry.
