Paul Adom-Otchere, the former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), has shared a poignant video capturing his emotional reunion with his family following his release from detention at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
The public release of the 10-minute footage less than 24 hours after he exited the confines of the OSP offers a rare glimpse into the personal impact of his recent legal ordeal, which stems from an ongoing investigation into a controversial GACL contract.
The video, widely circulated online, captures an emotional Paul Adom-Otchere in a heartfelt chat with his wife.
During their conversation, his wife revealed a significant outpouring of solidarity and support from high-profile figures.
Among those mentioned were former President Nana Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Samira.
The video also shows messages of well-wishes from numerous other sympathisers, underscoring Adom-Otchere’s extensive network and influence within political and media circles.
Adom-Otchere was invited by the OSP in connection with a revenue assurance contract between the GACL and a private firm.
The probe centres on allegations that this significant contract was awarded without the full and proper approval of the GACL board during his tenure as chairman.
His detention by the OSP ensued after he reportedly failed to meet bail requirements, specifically citing his lack of ownership of landed property in Ghana, a common condition often imposed in such cases to ensure an accused’s presence during investigations.
While the OSP has a mandate to investigate and prosecute corruption and corruption-related offences, its powers of detention and bail conditions have occasionally sparked public debate.
