Ghanaian artist Phatelinuks believes music is about staying true to yourself, not chasing trends.
Born Linus Kojo Osei Nyamekye Seth, the former Octopus International Band vocalist has grown into a versatile songwriter and performer whose focus is on lasting originality. “With time the masses will accept you if you stay true to who you are,” he reflects.
That commitment to authenticity shines through his new single, “Desire.”
Rooted in lovers rock, the song captures the emotions of a man opening his heart to the woman he admires and hopes to spend forever with. For Phatelinuks, it also signals a revival of a genre that many thought had faded. “Old things are being reintroduced. Those who saw Lovers Rock as outdated are now embracing it, and from the way Ghanaians are rocking ‘Desire,’ the genre is still alive,” he explains.
Though he is versatile and comfortable across different genres, lovers rock remains his passion. He insists that Ghanaian audiences appreciate good music above everything else. “No matter how long you disappear, once you come out with a good song, you are good to go,” he stated.
With “Desire,” Phatelinuks makes a strong case for originality, reminding listeners that timeless music never loses its place.
