Officers from the Central North Regional Police Command have found Nana Okogyeaman Ameyaw Dankwa Okokroko II, Chief of Assin Wurakese, after he went missing.

Okokroko II had allegedly been abducted.

Citi News reported that the chief was taken from his residence at Assin Nkukuasa on the morning of August 19.

Four armed masked men dressed in military camouflage were said to be behind the abduction, which sparked panic and some protest from the community.

Following reports of the abduction, police intercepted a pickup truck at approximately 9:05 a.m., with the chief and four others onboard.

The chief and the four individuals were then detained at Asamankese.

Police later said the men wth the chief were operatives from the National Security Secretariat who picked the Chief to assist in an ongoing national security investigation.

According to the commander, the chief was subsequently handed over to a formal national security team around 6:30 pm on Tuesday, following a request by the police.

Some community members have expressed concerns over the manner in which the National Security officials carried out the arrest, describing it as aggressive, unprofessional, and likely to incite fear and panic.
