President Mahama was among the high-profile dignitaries who gathered to mourn the passing of Dr Samuel Sarpong, one of the eight victims of the tragic Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The state funeral, held on Friday, August 15, at the Black Star Square, drew thousands of mourners, including political leaders, military officials, traditional authorities, and ordinary citizens.

After the state funeral, the remains of Dr Sarpong were laid to rest at the Burma Camp Military Cemetery together with five others, where an emotional burial service was held.
