Ghana’s presidency has released an official statement regarding this year’s Founder’s Day public holiday.

The statement released on Wednesday, September 17, confirmed that the holiday, which falls on Sunday, September 21, will be observed on Monday.

The general public is hereby informed that Sunday, 21st September 2025, marks Founder’s Day, which is a Statutory Public Holiday.

However, in view of the fact that 21st September 2025 falls on a Sunday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has, by Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), as amended, declared Monday, 22nd September 2025, as Additional Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.
