The US government announced in July a sweeping set of restrictions against multiple countries, including Ghana, over repeated violations of immigration law by its citizens.

The new policy restricted Ghanaian citizens to three-month, single-entry visas.

According to the Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the US pointed to a 21% student visa overstay rate as the reason behind the decision taken against Ghana.

The announcement sparked uproar on social media, with many Ghanaians who frequently travel abroad stating the damaging effect the policy would have on their lives and businesses.

On September 26, Okudzeto Ablakwa announced that the visa restrictions placed against Ghana had been lifted after months of high-level diplomatic negotiations.

Telvin Sowah prophesies about US visa restrictions

During an appearance on Okay FM’s Ekwanso dwodwoo with Nana Romeo on July 24, 2025, days after the policy was announced, Ghanaian prophet Telvin Adjei Sowah said the policy would be short-lived.

He said he had seen a vision that President Donald Trump would reverse the decision, specifically for Ghana and a few other countries.

“He (Trump) would change his mind, he would review Ghana’s documentation. Because I saw it changed, and I have told quite a lot of people. That three-month policy would be changed,” he said.

Following the lifting of the restrictions, Prophet Sowah reposted the video of the prophecy on his social media pages.
