A military helicopter, identified as a Z-9, crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, reportedly involving some Ministers of State.

Reports indicate that the Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, and two others were involved.

The helicopter was en route to Obuasi when contact was lost shortly after taking off from Accra at 9:12 a.m.

A statement released by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) indicates that the helicopter had three crew members and five passengers on board.

While there are initial reports of some passengers being burnt, the GAF has not confirmed any fatalities.

GAF said efforts are underway to establish contact with the missing helicopter and determine the cause of the crash.

The GAF has assured the public that they are working to secure the site and investigate the incident.
