Sean “Diddy” Combs arrived Thursday at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey, to begin serving his four-year sentence for transportation for the purposes of prostitution, multiple sources confirmed to ABC News.

Combs was transferred from MDC-Brooklyn earlier Thursday to FCI Fort Dix, the facility his legal team specifically requested. The move allows him to participate in a special drug treatment program, which, if completed successfully, could reduce his sentence. Sources indicate that Combs will not be housed in the general population, but rather within the program unit.

Combs, who has already served roughly 14 months of his 50-month sentence, is scheduled for release in 2028, though the date could change depending on potential reductions.

Meanwhile, the music mogul is pushing to expedite his federal appeal of his conviction, arguing that a faster review is critical before his sentence is fully served. His attorney, Alexandra Shapiro, filed a motion requesting an accelerated schedule for briefing and argument. “An expedited briefing and argument schedule is critical to ensure that Mr. Combs’s appeal of his sentence does not become moot while the appeal is pending,” Shapiro said.

Combs was convicted on two counts of transportation for the purposes of prostitution after an eight-week trial in July. He was acquitted of more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges. In his appeal, Combs contends that prosecutors misapplied the law, citing the Mann Act, which he argues was unfairly used in his case.

Shapiro added that Combs’ conviction should not apply because he had no financial motive in transporting male escorts, asserting instead that his actions were related to private sexual encounters with consenting adults.
