Ghanaian media personality and television host, Captain Smart, has criticized Evangelist Papa Shee over his recent comments and display of emotion following the death of highlife legend, Daddy Lumba.
Speaking on his morning show Onua Maakye on Onua TV, Captain Smart expressed shock at Papa Shee’s sudden claims of closeness to the late musician. According to him, the evangelist was never on good terms with Lumba when the latter was alive.
Captain Smart, who disclosed that he used to be Daddy Lumba’s neighbor at Tantra Hills, revealed that the musician had once told him about Papa Shee’s ungratefulness and why he stopped welcoming him to his home. He alleged that on several occasions, Papa Shee attempted to visit Daddy Lumba at his residence but was denied entry.
“You, Papa Shee, you were not in talking terms with Daddy Lumba. You hated Lumba more than anyone on earth. Have you forgotten that you came to ask for forgiveness from Lumba? Why did you come and plead for forgiveness? What exactly did you do to the man that made you come to ask him for forgiveness? Several times you came to see Lumba but you were not allowed to enter — in my presence. And today, Lumba is dead, and you are making false allegations,” Captain Smart angrily said in Akan.
He went on to describe Papa Shee as a false man of God, emphasizing that because of his close relationship with Daddy Lumba, he could not sit and watch the evangelist spread what he called falsehoods.

“Lumba told me what you did to him but I can’t say it on air. You are a very wicked and bad person. When you take me to court, I will come and say it for everyone to know. You, Papa Shee — you hated Lumba more than anyone. Now that he’s dead, you’re pretending like you loved him or were close to him,” he added.
Captain Smart concluded his comments by challenging Papa Shee to respond to him, warning that he is ready to face him publicly if he does.
Since Daddy Lumba’s passing, Evangelist Papa Shee has made several public statements that have sparked discussions. Among them include:
Alleged autopsy controversy: He claimed that a woman known as Odo Broni, described as Lumba’s partner, conducted the post-mortem examination on the musician without informing or seeking consent from the family. According to him, neither Lumba’s legal wife nor his sister was aware until after the one-week observation.
Claims of unfair treatment: Papa Shee alleged that many of Lumba’s “baby mamas” reached out to him, expressing concern about the supposed unfair treatment of Lumba’s lawful wife, Akosua Serwaa. He even recounted an instance where one of the women sought forgiveness from her.
Spiritual revelation: He also claimed to have received a revelation from God days before Lumba’s death, saying he “saw that something was going to happen” to the musician and had been praying for him prior to the incident.
