Star Oil Ltd has commenced an internal inquiry into a fatal accident involving one of its Bulk Road Vehicles (BRVs) near Asukawkaw in the Oti Region on Thursday, August 14.

The collision, which resulted in the loss of four lives and left 14 others injured, is reported to have occurred when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle. The tanker veered into a bustling market, causing panic and devastation.

In a statement, the company’s management said it would work in full cooperation with the police to establish the exact cause of the crash and ensure that those responsible are held to account.

“The Company has initiated its internal investigative processes and will collaborate fully with the police to determine the cause of the accident,” the statement read.

Star Oil further noted that it was liaising with emergency services and local authorities to provide support to the bereaved families and the injured.

It extended its deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and conveyed best wishes for the swift recovery of those receiving treatment.
