The Government of Ghana, under the auspices of President John Dramani Mahama, has announced that a state funeral will be held in honour of the late former First Lady, Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Independence Square in Accra.

According to a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Member of Parliament and Spokesperson to the President, the decision to accord the late Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings a state funeral is in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the promotion of women’s and children’s rights and her immense role in national development.

Dr. (Mrs.) Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, a distinguished public figure and former First Lady of Ghana, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital. Her death was met with widespread sorrow across the nation and beyond, as many remembered her as a passionate advocate for gender equality and social empowerment.

Following her passing, the Agyeman-Rawlings and allied families have expressed profound gratitude to Ghanaians and the international community for their outpouring of sympathy and support. In an earlier announcement shared on the official Facebook page of her late husband, former President Jerry John Rawlings, the family invited individuals, groups, and institutions to submit tributes in her honour.
