Ever heard of the saying my future is so bright I need to wear shades to protect my eyes? I heard this from someone on TV way back and it has stuck with me.
I’m a lover of eye wears I have quite a range, I own from basic ones to the most sophisticated ones. I’m yet to buy from the high-end designers. For now i stick with the Highstreet designers.
So I buy from the Zaras’, Mangos’, Harrods and the likes. I’ve also got a few from the abokyis. By abokyi I mean our brethren’s from Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali who hawk sunglasses.
Trust me, they have nice designs.
Last Friday, August 15th 2025, was indeed a sad day for Ghana. As the entire nation condoled with families of victims of the recent Helicopter Z-9 crash on August 6th.
Watching live on TV I was so distraught, especially as their widows read their respective tributes. “Ei asem b3n nie” I quizzed?
But in the midst of the despair, here I was, admiring the fashion of some of the mourners. This time my focus was on the sunglasses. Trust me there was a lot on display. Most people hid their emotions behind those glasses.
Let me not bore y’all with plenty talk. Let’s see some of the eclectic styles that captured me.

When I hinted to a friend about putting this article together. She said “I’m not serious” as people are mourning, I’m concerned with fashion. Well, I guessed it’s my sanguine temperament.
Anyway, my condolences to the respective families and the people of Ghana. Out of the ashes we shall rise.
